the motiveWhen Detective Dan Cuneo arrived at the home of Paul Hanover, the blaze was intense!

Mr. Hanover, a well respected member of the upper class of San Francisco, and his fiancee Missy D’Amiens are found in the foyer “burnt to a crisp.” That sounds pretty gross doesn’t it! But not only are they burned beyond recognition, they both have gunshots wounds to the head.

A murder/suicide for sure!

Well maybe not thinks Mayor Kathy West, a friend of Paul’s. She calls Deputy Police Chief Abraham (Abe) Glitsky to help find out what really happened. Deputy Glitsky was before the promotion an “ace” of a detective himself and the mayor feels he may some evidence that Cuneo might have missed.

Abe though does not like the idea of stepping on Cuneo’s toes, so he tries to level the playing field by arranging a meeting with the detective. In the mean-time Cuneo has followed up on a hunch and evidence to implicate Hanover’s daughter-in-law, Catherine Hanover.

Before the two can meet, Ms. Hanover calls Abe and does not want to meet with Cuneo any more because of improper advances! “Do you want to file a complaint?” asks Deputy Glitsky of Ms. Hanover. Ms. Hanover declines, but this gives Abe some ammunition to talk to Cuneo about, of course Cuneo denies any wrong doing!

Still the evidence points toward Catherine and she is arrested. She calls her old boyfriend Dismas Hardy, to be her lawyer who coincidentally is Abe’s best friend!

What will happen to Catherine? Is she capable of killing her father-in-law!

More next week…
